Trying to do a close reading of the bible

This is a lovely book for those who choose to read it and even abide by it, and I completely understand teaching it as literature, however, that is not how my lit prof is teaching it. If you say anything against it, or not how he interprets it, he gets very defensive and says we are not on the right track. It’s extremely frustrating, especially when he refers to some other part of the bible or new testament or old testament or gospel or I don’t even know what, and no one has a clue what he is talking about. And then he makes bible jokes about goats and I’m embarrassed for him, yet at the same time hate him because I’m paying for this shit class. I want to read, ya know, relevant material to the course, not about the bible.
